Antioxidant Nopal Betalains vs. Mangosteen tannic acid and xanthones - Back to Contents
Betalains not Mangosteen Xanthones are a rare and potent class of antioxidants that flourish in the Nopal cactus fruit. Nopalea harnesses the power of this desert superfruit and its betalains to bring you scientifically proven health benefits.
What are they? - Betalains are the pigments that give the Nopal cactus fruit its vibrant pink color. But that’s just the beginning. They’re also natural antioxidants—and they’re only found in a few of the world’s plants. The Nopal fruit isn’t just included in this small group of special plants, it actually leads the group by containing one of the highest amounts of betalains in all of nature. Mangosteen Xanthones comprise much of the promotional claims but it may well be the tannic acid which explains why it has been used almost exclusively as an astringent and aid in controlling dysentery and diarrhea.
How they heal - When you drink Nopalea, you take these betalains into your system, where they begin to restore your vitality on a cellular level. By helping the body reduce the toxins surrounding your cells and enabling essential nutrients to reach each cell, the betalains in Nopalea can reduce the inflammation in your body that leads to disease. Mangosteen’s have a low shelf-life. It's therapeutic properties, dysentery and diarrhea, are only applicable when it is in its natural state, and many manufacturers therefore add certain preservatives and stabilizing agents to their product to make it last longer. Needless to say, these agents can give rise to side effects that may unjustly be attributed to the mangosteen. This is especially true when inexplicable drug interactions take place.
Scientific research shows that betalains over so-called mangosteen fruit juice help to:
- Reduces the risk of blood clots—betalains protect the thin lining of your blood vessels; this helps reduce the inflammation that makes your blood sticky and leads to clots.
- Reduces bad cholesterol—betalains strongly reduce oxidized LDL cholesterol.
- Protects cells from toxins—betalains protect many types of cells, especially brain cells, from toxins known to trigger tumors.
- Protects your liver—betalains provide significant protection from toxins that directly affect your liver.
Betalains vs. Mangosteen Health Benefits - Back to Contents
For the last several centuries, the primary medicinal use of the rinds of the mangosteen has been for a disease, dysentery, that rarely ever appears anymore in present day America or most of Europe. In fact, the rind contains so much tannic acid, it was suggested by someone in the 19th century (New York Times, October 27, 1881) that they be sent bulk to the United States to aid in the tanning of leather. According to this article, it made sense because the mangosteen rinds contained more tannin than was found in oak bark!
Nopalea defends your body against dangerous toxins that threaten cellular health, lead to inflammation and trigger a whole host of diseases. Here’s how it can help the body thrive.
Detoxify your body - Every day, we’re exposed to toxins in our air, water and food—and even toxins created by our own bodies. Nopalea combines its betalains with other anti-toxic ingredients to combat these poisons where they strike us first: right inside the trillions of cells in our bodies. By increasing the activity of CYP-2E1, a special enzyme that neutralizes daily toxins, Nopalea protects your cells and vital organs—especially your liver—against the carcinogens, hormone disruptors, respiratory toxins, developmental toxins and neurotoxins that are responsible for one-quarter of all the world’s diseases.
Reduce inflammation - When toxins assault your system—or when injury or infection strikes—your body responds with a complex biological process commonly referred to as inflammation. If this inflammation goes unchecked, it can lead to a wide variety of disorders, from stroke to arthritis to heart disease. Nopalea specifically targets signs of inflammation in your body and reduces them quickly. It's betalains and other anti-inflammatory ingredients work directly on the fluid surrounding your cells. There, they draw off the toxins and excess water to reduce inflammation and rebalance the cellular environment not mangosteen xanthones, which historically treats dysentery and diarrhea.
Protect against premature aging - Your skin is a miraculous covering that protects you from harm. Pollution, toxins, radiation and other potentially damaging influences are kept out of your body by your skin; vital organs are protected inside. One of the first signs of aging is thin, sagging, withered skin that is easily damaged. Nopalea rushes to these damaged areas to shore up your protective layer. The betalains in Nopalea fill in the gaps of your cells (including the cells in your skin) and return them to the firm, robust nature of young cells — at any age. By providing a healthy environment for the cell, betalains not mangosteen xanthones keep it from withering.
More health benefits
Want even more reasons to drink Nopalea? Scientific research shows that Nopalea not mangosteen juice, also helps the body to:
- Increase energy
- Boost the immune system
- Protect against fluid retention
- Neutralize free radicals
Drink it and thrive.

Sonoran Harvest - Back to Contents
When the Nopal cactus blooms and ripens, alighting the desert with its brilliant pink fruit, our Sonoran Harvest begins—just as it has for thousands of years.
Low-impact harvesting - Using sustainable wildcrafting techniques learned from native Sonoran ancestors, Nopalea takes only what’s needed from the extraordinary Nopal cactus. We leave most of the fruit on the plant to nourish the desert animals and ensure an abundant crop for future harvests. It’s our way of giving back, respecting the cycle of life and celebrating the harvest season.
High-impact wellness - Immediately after harvesting, we transport the Nopal fruits to our state-of-the-art processing plant, where they’re juiced to a puree and blended with other all-natural ingredients to create a deliciously unique concentrated wellness drink. Using aseptic, sterile bottling techniques, we preserve the fruits’ purity and freshness—and we ensure the potency of its powerful antioxidant betalains.
An excellent source that will explain the rich history of the Mangosteen Fruit can be found here. If you love this delicious fruit for what it is, this is a must read. I thoroughly enjoyed the site which redeemed the fruit and it's medicinal properties.

What makes Nopalea so unique?
Nopalea contains a rare and potent class of antioxidants called betalains. Of all the known sources for betalains, the Nopal cactus fruit supplies some of the highest amounts found in all of nature.
How is Nopalea different from other Superfruit concentrates products?
While many superfruit liquid wellness concentrates are available today such as Noni, Mangosteen, and Acai, Nopalea is made from the purest and freshest Opuntia Ficus Indica (Nopal) cactus that produces a antioxidant rich Superfruit. This powerful Superfruit is unique in that it contains a rare class of Antioxidant called Betalain. The Betalain antioxidant is scientifically studied and proven to help the body detoxify itself from harmful environmental toxins which help reduce and protect against inflammation. Inflammation is now considered the number one precursor to dangerous and life threatening disease.
With so many Superfruit products available why should I use an Opuntia Ficus Indica (Nopal) product over an Acai, Noni or Mangosteen product?
There are many superfruits available and they all contain antioxidants to help slow the aging process and fight free radicals. However, none of them have the clinical research that Opuntia Ficus Indica does on helping the body detoxify and reduce inflammation. Because science has proven inflammation is a serious cause for disease Opuntia Ficus Indica could be a more prudent selection.
What makes Nopalea so effective?
Quality! Nopalea is made from premium, antioxidant-rich Nopal cactus fruit. This fruit is carefully harvested from the Sonoran Desert, using the same techniques the native Sonorans have been using for thousands of years. From there, the fruit is juiced to a puree and bottled in a state-of-the-art facility, which ensures quality and freshness while also preserving the antioxidants and their potency.
What kind of scientific research has been done on Nopal cactus?
To date, 287 scientific papers have been published on the benefits and attributes of Nopal. These are found in the highest quality, peer-reviewed journals. These are supported by the National Institutes of Health database to insure that the conclusions are valid. They report improvements in cell function, immunity, detoxification and especially a reduction in inflammation.
Is Nopalea safe for everyone?
Yes. Nopalea is a natural, concentrated wellness drink made from Nopal cactus fruit, which is harvested from the Sonoran Desert at the peak of its freshness. From there, the fruit is juiced to a puree and bottled in a state-of-the-art facility, which ensures quality and freshness while also preserving the antioxidants and their potency.
Warning! New findings now indicate that unsupervised use of fruits like mangosteen can reduce the production of essential fats and cause harmful weight loss. This is obviously a worrisome factor, especially in cases where weight loss is highly undesirable. Apart from the fact that lipids (or fats) serve as a significant fuel source for the body, it gives rise to questions about the advisability of mangosteen in immunodeficiency-related conditions. Is it safe to take Nopalea with medication?
There are no known contraindications with Nopalea and medications. However, Nopalea is a dietary supplement. If you are taking any medications or have a known medical condition, it’s best to consult with your health care provider before drinking Nopalea.

"After taking Nopalea, the shoulder and hip pain are completely gone"
I'm a 62-year old retired Firefighter. I spent 34 years in the fire service. I always stayed fit by working out and jogging. I even competed in bodybuilding shows for 7 years. After all those years of firefighting, my body was feeling the effects. My left knee hurt most of the time, it caused me to walk with a limp. I had pain in my right shoulder.
Sometimes the pain was so intense, I would have to use my left arm. Finally, in the last 6 months, I would wake up at night with hip pain. Then my life changed. I joined TriVita in March. Started taking Super Sublingual B-12-GREAT STUFF! I was hearing more and more about Nopalea and the results people were having with it. I was a bit skeptical at first, then said, Why Not. I started my first bottle in the middle of April and the results are amazing. I take 1 to 2 oz. in the morning and after three weeks, the shoulder and hip pain are completely gone. I get a slight knee pain every now and then. I know that by keeping Nopalea in my diet the knee pain will be completely gone. Thank you TriVita. I plan to compete in a bodybuilding show this summer, thanks to Nopalea.

"Nopalea allowed me to compete in what I do best!"
"I'm a 49-year-old Pro Rodeo Champion from South Dakota. I compete nationally in Steer Wrestling and Roping. I also have two sons that compete in the rodeo circuit too - youth and teen circuit, of course. My oldest son is 15 and was heading out today to compete for a grand prize of a new truck and horse trailer! My boys don't mess around.
I recently found out about Nopalea from my mother. She recommended that I try the product because of my aches and pains. Working in the rodeo has especially impacted my shoulders, causing me pain.
Just several days after starting Nopalea, I took a nasty fall and hurt my knee pretty bad. I was not sure what to expect from this injury, but feared the worst. The last time I took this kind of fall, I was out for almost a month with a knee injury.
Still, I was due to compete over the next few days and was afraid I would not be able to. I kept taking the Nopalea and didn't really think much about it helping with something so soon. Well, much to my surprise, I did not have the swelling and pain the next day that I've experienced so many times before. I was not only feeling pretty good, I was able to compete the next two days and finish what I was there for!
I have also noticed that since taking the Nopalea, my sleep pattern is much better. I used to wake at the early hours of the morning and now, I find that I am sleeping better and longer without that interruption."

"I feel so blessed that I was introduced to TriVita and Sonoran Bloom"
"I am a lung cancer survivor. I’ve been in remission since 2003, but have continued to be on oxygen (especially at night) and have balance and mobility problems. I began taking Nopalea and Super Sublingual B-12 about three months ago and cannot say enough positives about these awesome products. My over-all energy level, concentration and clarity of mind have all greatly improved. Even after a series of mini strokes, I find that my memory is now better. I am so EXCITED about these health and wellness products. I am telling everyone I know who may benefit from them. Even on my fixed income, I have given seven Nopalea Gifts of Health because I want others to feel as good as I do. I feel so blessed that I was introduced to TriVita and Sonoran Bloom."

"…the pain that I had in my knees, hips and feet from an almost daily tennis addiction was GONE!"
"My name is Karen Summers and I am a can’t-get-enough-of-it tennis player. I have been playing doubles tennis for about eight years (played in college too!). At the great old age of 52 I have started to question how long I can play this sport, and thought I was going to have to join my husband on the golf course! There is so much pain and soreness in my hips and feet. And what’s worse, I have had a constant off-and-on issue with my left knee. It has taken me out for parts of a season in the past! What am I supposed to do then, just sit around? As you could imagine, these matches are very competitive and hard on the body. Start, stop, move left, right, backward, forward, up, down, even DUCK – all very explosive movements.
Around the first of April, TriVita launched their new product, Nopalea! A friend gave me a taste and I immediately bought a bottle on a wing and a prayer of hope. I really don’t like golf, even WITH Tiger Woods on the course. Could it really be true that the pain in my body thanks to all this constant tennis playing could be alleviated? I doubted it but it sure tasted good.
Coincidentally, around this very same time, I signed up for a singles tennis challenge ladder. I had not played singles since I was in college. Singles is about five times as demanding on knees, hips and feet as you are covering the entire court, all by yourself. Without thinking about the two oz of Nopalea that I was taking each day, I found myself winning all my matches! Thanks to the wins, I found myself challenging three to four singles matches per week! This was just TOO much fun. After three weeks of this tennis-mania, I stopped to think about how I was managing four matches a week! Was it not just a few weeks earlier that I was on the sofa after ONE doubles match? Could it really be that the hot pink bottle was responsible for all this relief!? At this point, I was undefeated! OH MY GOSH... the pain that I had in my knees, hips and feet from an almost daily tennis addiction was GONE!
To end this marvelous story ... not only did I end up winning the division at the end of the season with a 16-1 win/loss record but I also won the end of season tournament! There is absolutely NO question in my mind that this would not have been possible without Sonoran Bloom Nopalea.
Thanks for a great product, a great company and the opportunity to leave the golf to my husband. I am staying on the tennis court!"

Press Releases - Back to Contents
SCOTTSDALE, Arizona, January 8th, 2009 - TriVita, Inc. announced they are enhancing their direct-to-consumer business model to feature a Share-and-Earn program for TriVita customers in conjunction with the launch of their new Sonoran Bloom™ product line scheduled to launch April 1st, 2009.
TriVita joined the Direct Sellers Association in 2008 to evaluate the possibility of offering a reselling business program to its Members.
"After reviewing our long-term goals of taking our new Sonoran Bloom™ product line international, we knew we had to change from an exclusively media-driven commerce model. This new channel of distribution will help us grow not only domestically but also in those countries whose media infrastructure and regulatory restrictions make growth very challenging," said Michael Ellison, TriVita CEO. "TriVita Members and Affiliates will have the opportunity to tell others about their personal product experiences, by sharing and sampling our products."
TriVita's new Share-and-Earn program is backed by a significant compensation plan that pays out a true 70% on all Sonoran Bloom™ products sold and consumed by new Affiliates for ninety days. This increased compensation opportunity is designed to help TriVita create new product distribution channels as well as helping the new Affiliate earn an extra $500 to $2,000 in their first 90 days.
"When we created the Share-and-Earn compensation program we took the new Affiliate into careful consideration knowing the nature of the high fall-out rate in Direct Sales. We want to change that by helping new Affiliates experience some level of success in their first 90 days. So we created a compensation plan that would reward the enroller and their team up to three generations but also reward the Directors and even the Presidential Directors for their support of a new and growing team in their organization," said Marcus Ellison, Senior VP of Sales & Marketing.
TriVita is partnering with fellow Direct Seller Association Member Supplier VERTEX to implement the requisite internal restructuring.
"We have selected VERTEX to support our new sales tax systems which include both software and ongoing support services. We believe that with the support of the Direct Sellers Association services and the long-standing successful relationships it has with its member companies, we have a very promising future for our growth goals," said Don Kurtenbach, CFO of TriVita.
"The new Sonoran Bloom™ product line - which includes a proprietary Opuntia liquid concentrate and Streptocantha gel - have significant health applications and benefits," said TriVita Chief Science Officer, Brazos Minshew.
"These products offer our Members and Affiliates true wellness benefits by helping with detoxification and reducing inflammation. The source plants for the Sonoran Bloom™ products are considered healing food plants and were used by ancient people in the Sonora desert. Not only will this story be told by TriVita, but also by our Members and Affiliates, who we believe will want to share these discoveries and results with people all over the world," said Minshew.
The target date for the launch of the new Share-and-Earn program is April 1st, 2009. Promotional and training events are scheduled in 30 cities to reinforce the launch of both the reselling program and the Sonoran Bloom™ product line. TriVita is planning a special kick-off event to introduce the new Sonoran Bloom™ product line and provide Affiliate training on the Share-and-Earn compensation program March 26th in Phoenix, Arizona.

Baby Boomer Generation - Back to Contents
1946 to 1964
Why is this time-span so important to you as business owner or child of this era?
The United States experienced an "explosion" of births after American soldiers returned home from World War II. The sociologists define those born between (and including) 1946 and 1964 as "baby boomers."
In 1946, when births went from 2.8 to 3.4 million. The end of the boom is not as clear, however. Perhaps that delineation was marked when annual births dropped below 4 million (1964). The point is...
Every 8.5 Seconds another Boomer turns 50 yrs old.
Bill Geist who noted first (in 1997) in his book "The Big 5-Oh" that another boomer turns 50 every 7 seconds. Whew! Is that possible? Well, you don't have to be a math major to check it out. Let's look at 50 years ago - 1959 - when 4,245,000 boomers were born. Now, I suppose that some of them have not made it this far, so let's round it down to 4,000,000. (That's just my estimate, but it is close enough for my purposes here.) So, a bit more than 4,000,000 will turn 50 in 2009. Let's see how that breaks down:
per year: 4,000,000
per day (4.0 mil / 365): 10,958
per hour (10.6 k / 24): 456
per minute (456 / 60): 7.1
And 7.1 per minute amounts to one every 8.5 seconds.
The biggest year of the boom was 1957, when 4.3 million boomers were born. Boomers today represent 28% of the U.S. population. But in 1964, they represented about 40% of the population. In other words, in 1964 more than a third of the population was under 19 years old! No wonder the baby boomers attracted so much attention and shaped the way trends moved through this progressive cycle.
Opportunity
During all cycles of the enconomy there are people who are making money and losing money. The makers, are the ones in front of large trends; the losers disregard trends. So how do you get in front of large trends? You study what creates them.
Without any hesitation, in today's society its "The Baby Boom Generation" that creates the largest trends. Between 1946-1964 there were 76 million of them born in the US and 1 billion worldwide. Why is this group so talked about?
FACT:
- They are 1/3 of the US population
- They control 65% of all the money
Liken the magnitude of all those babies as the size of a basketball being sucked through a garden hose. They re-shape every industry they go through! If you can predict where this basketball (Baby Boom Generation) is going down the garden hose, you possess the ability to make fortunes.
Historical Examples
Of the obivious buying power of the Boomers.
1. It started with a barley known company called Gerber in 1940. By 1955, just ten years after the Boomers were born Gerber sold 1.8 billion jars of baby food.
2. As the Boomers took their first steps it was "Buster Brown and Kenny's Shoes."
3. When the Boomers went out to play is was "Matel and Hasbro" got rich creating toys for this young group.
4. In 1957, we built more elementary schools in the US, in one year, just to handle the overflow than we did in any 12 year period before or after.
5. As the Boomers went through their teens; Dairy Queen, McDonalds, and Kentucky Fried Chicken became billion dollar companies feeding the Boomers.
6. When the Boomers moved through their 20's and 30's, which was in the mid 1970's, what was the industry to be in? Real Estate. Why? Because the Boomers heard one too many times from their parents, "As long as you're living under my roof, you'll do as I say." So they went under their own roof, which created a 15 year real estate boom. "People are still talking today about that great time-frame to be in real estate."
Follow The Basketball

The Linkbetween inflammation and autoimmune disease
"How Nopalea helps the body cope" - VitaJournal
Eating nutritiously,
exercising and supplementing
with the right nutrients all help
to reduce inflammation and
accelerate the healing process.
Is your body attacking itself unintentionally? That’s just what happens in autoimmune diseases, and Nopalea™ may be able to help. According to the US Department of Health and Human Services, there are over 80 autoimmune diseases, and they affect millions of people, inflicting rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, lupus, type 1 diabetes and more.
Understanding autoimmune dysfunction
Autoimmune disorders involve the "immune system," which is designed to help protect you from illness and harmful substances called antigens. Examples of antigens range from bacteria and viruses, to toxins and blood or tissue from another person. In response, the immune system produces antibodies that attach themselves to antigens in order to destroy and remove them from the body. In people with an autoimmune disorder, the immune system is unable to distinguish an antigen from a normal cell, and therefore, mistakenly turns on itself to attack normal, healthy tissues.
Inflammation:
A parallel to autoimmune disease?
Inflammation, like the immune system, typically plays a protective role in our bodies. In fact, it can be a lifesaver, as it works to ward off illness-causing germs and toxins. The moment we are exposed to a hazardous substance, like a virus or parasite, inflammation attacks the invader and surrounding tissues that may have been harmed and infected. Inflammation then quickly subsides and the tissues can heal. There are times, however, when this inflammation response doesn’t shut off as it is supposed to. It becomes chronic, and can lead to a host of varying diseases.
This is why so many people have had dramatic results with Nopalea. The inflammation fighting wellness drink helps the body reduce inflammation and the pain it brings.
Link between inflammation and disease
The physicians who have the most experience treating chronic inflammation are the ones who specialize in the most common autoimmune disorders. These disorders, as mentioned earlier in this article, show a body that has turned on itself and attacks its own muscles and tissues. This attack triggers inflammation – the natural response to fighting off toxic bacteria. However, the inflammation becomes ongoing and excessive.
Inflammation may only be an issue in the beginning stages of an autoimmune disorder, as seems to be the case with multiple sclerosis. It creates a great deal of damage at first, until so much tissue is destroyed that it damages the nerves permanently.
A hope for a cure
So, what can be done to protect against this inflammation from wreaking havoc on the body? This is a problem that doctors have been trying to solve for decades, and, research continues. What they know for now is that inflammation has a bigger impact on chronic diseases than they ever realized. And, until something can be done, we must all be aware of the dangers of inflammation, and the symptoms of autoimmune disorders.
In the meantime, researchers know that there are things that can be done to lessen inflammation, so symptoms can become more manageable. Eating nutritiously, exercising, losing any excess fat and supplementing with the right nutrients all help to reduce inflammation and accelerate the healing process. Nopalea’s inflammation-fighting Betalains may bring some relief to those suffering from autoimmune disorders triggered or worsened by inflammation. With a reduction in inflammation, pain can be relieved and soothed, and the body can function better, overall.
It may take many more years until doctors and researchers can isolate the cause of runaway inflammation and why some immune systems cannot recognize antigens from healthy cells. For now, Nopalea, the incredible wellness drink that helps relieve the symptoms of unwanted inflammation, can be part of the solution. Click Here To Learn More...
Larger waist size linked to heart failure
Dallas, Texas
A larger waist in middle-aged adults is linked to heart failure, according to researchers in the April 2009 journal
Circulation: Heart Failure. Researchers examined data from two large studies, the Swedish Mammography Cohort
and the Cohort of Swedish Men; participants had been asked to report height, weight and waist circumference
and were followed for seven years.
Of the 36,873 women (aged 48-83), there were 382 incidents of heart failure during the study period; among the
43,487 men (aged 45-79), there were 718 incidents of heart failure.
Researchers discovered that in women, waist size was associated with heart failure regardless of BMI (body mass
index), whereas in men, both waist size and BMI were predictors of heart failure.
Betalains Help Reduce Inflammation, Not Mangosteen Fruit Juice.
When toxins assault your system—or when injury or infection strikes—your body responds with a complex biological process commonly referred to as inflammation. If this inflammation goes unchecked, it can lead to a wide variety of disorders, from stroke to arthritis to heart disease.
Unlike the Mangosteen fruit juice, Nopalea developed from Nopal, specifically targets signs of inflammation in your body and reduces them quickly. Its betalains and other anti-inflammatory ingredients work directly on the fluid surrounding your cells. There, they draw off the toxins and excess water to reduce inflammation and rebalance the cellular environment. Xanthones contained in the Mangosteen fruit juice cannot produce these results.
What are betalains?
Unlike Xanthones found in the Mangosteen, Betalains are a rare and potent class of antioxidants found in extremely high, concentrated levels in the Nopal cactus fruit. When you drink Nopalea, you take these betalains directly into your system, where they work on the cellular level to restore your vitality.
Scientific research shows that the betalains found in the Nopal cactus fruit can help to detoxify your body, eliminating the poisons we encounter every day. Betalains also help the body reduce inflammation, protecting you from a wide variety of disorders. Learn more about betalains.
How else can I get Betalain antioxidants in my diet?
There are 24 types of Betalains known to science each one having a different function. Beets contain up to 6 of the 24 Betalains; Rainbow Swiss chard contains 12 Betalains. Nopal fruit can contain up to all 24 Betalain types, especially the Opuntia Ficus Indica Nopal fruit from the Sonora Desert. There are many species of Nopal that grow around the world. Opuntia Ficus Indica thrives in the extreme environment of the Sonora Desert and when wild-harvested at the peak of ripeness can contain all 24 Betalain types as opposed to zero being found in the Mangosteen fruit juice.
How is the Betalain antioxidant different from other Superfruit antioxidants?
Betalains are a protein-bound antioxidant that does more than help slow aging. Betalain antioxidants can help the body reduce inflammation, detoxify the cell and restore the balance between the inside and outside of the cell for optimal cellular function. While many antioxidants have been claimed to have different health benefits, the Betalain antioxidant is specifically studied to help the body reduce inflammation on a measurable and therapeutic level. Multiple studies show that Betalain antioxidants can help the human cell detoxify and remove unwanted and dangerous toxins which help reduce inflammation.
Medical Anti-Inflammatory Treatments
Common medical anti-inflammatory treatments include rest, light exercise, weight maintenance, stretching, and medications designed to reduce the inflammation and control the pain. These medications include Non Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs), steroid medications, and perhaps ultimately joint replacement surgery. The NSAIDs are widely used as the initial form of therapy. Betalains found in Nopalea or Mangosteen juice are not medication, but a natural source of healing properties.
For the most part NSAIDs are tolerated fairly well, although they can irritate the stomach and lead to ulcers. In some instances, long term use can lead to kidney problems.
Avoid Pro-Inflammatory Foods
Pro-inflammatory foods will increase inflammation, increase your pain from the inflammation and may also raise your risk for chronic disease. Loading up on junk foods, high-fat meats, sugar and fast foods will increase inflammation in your body. This is partially due to the unhealthy fats used in preparing and processing these foods, especially trans fats and saturated fats. Processed meats such as lunch meats, hot dogs and sausages contain chemicals such as nitrites that are associated with increased inflammation and chronic disease.

Saturated fats are also found in meats, dairy products and eggs. While all of these foods are important source of minerals and vitamins, you don't need the extra saturated fat. These foods also also contain fatty acids called arachidonic acid. While some arachidonic acid is essential for your health, too much arachidonic acid in the diet may make your inflammation worse. Be sure to choose low fat milk and cheese and lean cuts of meat, which will not promote inflammation.
Diets high in sugar have also been associated with inflammation, obesity and chronic disease such as diabetes. Eliminate high sugar foods such as sodas, soft drinks, pastries, pre-sweetened cereals and candy.
Another possible source of irritation comes from the nightshade family of plants. Whole fruits and vegetables are important to eat for their vitamins, minerals, and natural antioxidants. However some vegetables like potatoes, tomatoes, and eggplant may actually make pain from inflammation worse. These vegetables are part of the nightshade family of plants and contain a chemical alkaloid called solanine. Solanine can trigger pain in some people. While there isn't any formal research findings that back the claim about nightshade plants, some people believe they get relief from the symptoms of pain and inflammation.
